My favorite Things
The best part of finding something cool or that impacts you, is being able to share it! So, here are some of my favorite things: podcasts, daily devotions, books. I hope God leads you to something that speaks to your heart and soul.
(Apps and Emails)
Proverbs 31 Ministries – Founded by Lysa TerKeurst, well known Christian author and speaker. According to their website, Proverbs 31 Ministries began in 1992 as a monthly newsletter. It is now a multifaced ministry that transforms women’s lives around the word. You can sign up for a daily devotional to be delivered to your email. They publish books, hold conferences, and train women to share the gospel. Definitely worth checking out!
Give Him 15 with Dutch Sheets – Dutch Sheets is a well-known pastor and prophetic voice. You can sign up for his daily 15-minute devotionals and prayers on his website. I have his APP downloaded on my phone. His passion is to see America saved from the evil that is trying to change our destiny. From his website, “Dutch Sheets is an internationally recognized author, gifted teacher, and conference speaker. He has pastored, taught in several colleges and seminaries. He travels extensively, challenging believers for passionate prayer and societal reformation. Seeing America experience a sweeping revival and return to its Godly heritage is Dutch’s greatest passion. He is a messenger of hope for America, encouraging believers to contend for awakening.
Lisa Harper’s Back Porch Theology – You’re invited to hang out on Lisa Harper’s back porch and enjoy conversations about all things Jesus, theological anthropology, biblical orthodoxy, Spanx, the merits of Tex-Mex and more! The podcast will help you dive deeper into God’s word, understand that the gospel is great news for everyday life, not just when viewed in the light of eternity, and that God is for us. Harper’s website describes her as a “hilarious storyteller” and “theological scholar.” She’s been lauded as a compelling communicator, whose writing and speaking emphasize that accruing knowledge about God pales next to a real and intimate relationship with Jesus. I love her teaching style. I laugh and I learn.
Girlfriends In the Word – Hosted by Natalia Drumm. Studying the Bible isn’t always easy and can feel really overwhelming. The Girlfriends in the Word podcast helps you to grow confident in studying God’s Word and encourage you to flourish in your faith. I love the short episodes; but be ready, Natalia does talk fast! Drumm was an English teacher by profession who stayed home for years to raise boys, says on her website, “I believe nothing is wasted in the economy of God. Knowing I wanted to be present with my people, but also had gifts and talents given to me by God for a purpose, I began to ask God how to use what was in my hands for His glory. Girlfriends in the Word ™ became a project God laid on my heart to assist women in doing affordable, relevant, encouraging and sustaining Bible study as a discipline in their lives. The 20 minutes a day for 20 days a month system going through specific topics geared for a women’s life has resonated with women who wanted to dive deeper than their verse a day devotional but didn’t have an hour to commit to study each day.” This is definitely worth adding to your podcasts!
WHOA That’s Good – The “WHOA That’s Good” podcast welcomes you into meaningful conversations with authors, athletes, musicians, speakers, and stars of film and television. Hosted by Sadie Robertson, best-selling author, founder of Live Original, and star of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” & season 19 of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Huff’s ministry focuses on young women in their teens and early 20’s but the podcasts speak to women of all ages. And this “mature woman” loves her energy and the messages shared by her guests. Give it a try! See for yourself.
The Victory Channel/Flash Point – This channel was founded by Kenneth Copeland. It is a nonprofit, free-to-air television network. They have a number of shows, with Flash Point hosted by Gene Bailey being my favorite. They take a Biblical look at current events and speak with guests such as Evangelist Mario Murillo, Lance Wallnau, Dutch Sheets, and more. There is a strong prophetic aspect to the show; with prophets sharing their God-given words with viewers. I learn a lot and I am encouraged every time I watch. You can also find the shows on You Tube.
Praying God’s Will for My Daughter/My Son/My Husband – Lee Roberts. I been using the book for my daughter since she was young. It is a wonderful collection of scripture grouped by topic to pray over your loved ones. God’s word never returns void and there is great power in consistently praying scripture over our lives and the lives of those we love. I’m on my second book; the first one fell apart because I pray scripture every day from this amazing resource.
Mark Patterson – Draw the Circle – The 40 Day Prayer Challenge. This book has changed how I look at and approach prayer. I come before God with bold prayers circling them for as long as it takes. I am learning to ask God what He wants me to pray for rather than coming to Him with my list. The results are incredible. God has surprised me in ways I never expected
It’s a Good Morning Just Because You Love Me – Broad Street Publishing – 365-day devotional. There are a variety of devotions published by this group. I use this one as part of my morning devotions. I recommend you look them up to see all the great devotionals they have; pray about it; and purchase the one that speaks to you. I bought mine at my local Barnes and Noble. It’s fun format makes it an easy read.
Daily Light on the Daily Path – New Life Version – Barbour Books. 365-day devotional. This is a unique devotional in that every entry is scripture. There is a guiding scripture and then the devotional for the day is a string of more scripture to support the theme. Every day, you will hear directly from God in short devotionals.
Lysa TerKeurst – Seeing Beautiful Again: 50 Devotions to Find Redemption in Every Part of Your Story. Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God is Holding You Close. I use these to supplement my daily devotions. I’ve given them away as gifts because they are as beautiful to look at as are the words TerKeurst writes. She’s a gifted author and I highly recommend you check out her library of work at your favorite bookstore or online.
